Distance to Resolve Conflict

Faced with conflict, [Abraham] sought resolution by suggesting that his family and Lot's family physically distance themselves from each other....

Like Abraham, when faced with conflicts in our families, Church assignments, or employment, we can seek resolution rather than escalation. ..

All of us struggle to cope with negative influences of the world. From Abraham and Lot we can learn the power and protection of choosing to live righteously, choosing to avoid places where we or our families may be subject to great wickedness or temptation, and of choosing to always keep our tents facing toward the temple.

Elder Peter F. Meurs, "Living Righteously in a Wicked World," Ensign Feb 2018, 49-51.

Nothing Can Ever Go Permanently Wrong

“If our lives and our faith are centered upon Jesus Christ and His restored gospel, nothing can ever go permanently wrong. … If our lives are not centered on the Savior and His teachings, no other success can ever be permanently right.”

Howard W. Hunter, “Fear Not, Little Flock” (Brigham Young University devotional, Mar. 14, 1989), 2, speeches.byu.edu.

Most Important Anchor

Your testimony of Jesus Christ is the most important anchor that you can have to help hold you, steadfast and immovable, to principles of righteousness, regardless of the challenges and temptations that may come in the future” (“Steadfast in Christ,” Ensign, Dec. 1993, 52).

Elder M. Russell Ballard, "Steadfast in Christ," Ensign, Dec. 1993, 52.

Peace is a Gift

“Peace is a gift. We don’t determine the conditions upon which this gift is given. Our Father in Heaven sets the terms. Sometimes we become so focused on our quest for peace that we forget it is one of the fruits of a righteous life. Out best course for finding peace is to leave righteously—to keep our covenants. This is the only course that leads to that inner peace we all desire. The adversary would tempt us to put all our efforts into directions other than a righteous life in our search for peace, but if we do this we will be disappointed in the end. True peace comes only from the Lord as a result of our righteous lives.”

Elder Paul V. Johnson, “Where Can I Turn for Peace?” Ensign, Apr. 2013, 56.

Stand Tall

“There has never been more expected of the faithful in such a short period of time as there is of us . . . Each day we personally make many decisions that show where our support will go. The final outcome is certain –the forces of righteousness will finally win. What remains to be seen is where each of us personally, now and in the future, will stand in this fight-and how tall we will stand.”

Ezra Taft Benson, "In His Steps," Ensign, Sept 1988.

Strengthening Families by Increasing Spirituality

“There has grown in me an overwhelming testimony of the value of daughters of God. . . . I have felt that there has never been a greater need for increased faith and personal righteousness. There has never been a greater need for strong families and homes.
“The ability to quality for, receive, and act on personal revelation is the single most important skill that can be acquired in this life. Qualifying for the Lord’s Spirit begins with a desire for that Spirit and implies a certain degree of worthiness. Keeping the commandments, repenting, and renewing covenants made at baptism lead to the blessing of always having the Lord’s Spirit with us. Making and keeping temple covenants also adds spiritual strength and power to a woman’s life. Many answers to different questions are found by reading the scriptures because the scriptures are an aid to revelation. . . . Daily prayer is also essential to having the Lord’s Spirit with us.”

Julie B. Beck, “And upon the Handmaids in Those Days Will I Pour Out My Spirit,” Liahona and Ensign, May 2010, 10, 11.
